
A poll conducted by the Midgam Institute for Channel 12 News finds that 43% of the Israeli public believes that Benny Gantz and his National Unity Party should join the government and replace the Religious Zionist and Otzma Yehudit parties. 42% oppose such a move.
Among Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's opponents - 55% support such a move, and 36% oppose it. Among votes of the pro-Netanyahu bloc, the opposite is true: 53% oppose such a move compared to 28% who support it.
As for Yair Lapid - both supporters of the coalition as well as supporters of the opposition prefer that he not be part of the current government. Among the entire sample, 56% oppose Lapid joining the government to replace the Religious Zionist and Otzma Yehudit parties, compared to 33% who support it. Among voters of the pro-Netanyahu bloc, 76% are opposed to the move compared to 15% who support it. Among the voters of the group that opposes Netanyahu, 39% oppose such a move, and 53% support it.
The poll also found that the right-wing bloc continues to fail to gain significant strength, but Likud takes back the reins of the largest party in the Knesset and obtains 28 seats, while the National Unity Party wins 26 seats and Yesh Atid wins 20.
Shas wins 10 seats, the Religious Zionist Party (including Otzma Yehudit) - 9, United Torah Judaism - 7, Yisrael Beytenu - 6, Ra'am - 5, Hadash-Ta'al - 5, and Meretz - 4.
The Labor and Balad parties did not pass the electoral threshold.
The coalition wins 54 seats in total and the opposition 66 seats, including the five of Hadash-Ta'al.
Participants in the poll were also asked what they thought about the call by some of the ministers in the government to dismiss the Attorney General. 41% oppose the move and 28% support it. Among the voters of the Netanyahu bloc, a clear majority of 75% opposes the move and only 5% support it.
