Member of the Knesset Boaz Toporovsky (Yesh Atid) spoke Tuesday evening in the Knesset plenum and continued his routine from previous weeks of reading out the names of those killed in traffic accidents over the past seven days in Israel.
According to Toporovsky, "193 people have been killed since the beginning of the year on Israel's roads, the number of road accident fatalities in the first half of 2023 is the highest in the last decade with the exception of 2017."
"The list of people killed in the past week is not short," he pointed out, listing traffic accidents which took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as two accidents which took place on Friday, another on Saturday, and yet another on Monday.
"This morning, a four-year-old girl - just four years old - in a horrific accident when a vehicle hit her in Sakhnin," he noted.
At the end of his speech he said: "Nine deaths in the past week, 193 since the beginning of the year. This is not an attack, nor an operation in Jenin - it is much, much worse than that."
