Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen on Wednesday will arrive in Turkmenistan, marking the first time in 30 years that an Israeli Foreign Minister has set foot in that country.

During his visit, Cohen open a permanent Israeli embassy in Turkmenistan.

On Tuesday, Cohen left Israel for Azerbaijan, together with a delegation of businesspeople, for the purpose of deepening ties between Israel and Azerbaijan.

Included in the itinerary were meetings with Azerbaijan's President, Economy Minister, and Foreign Minister, as well as companies and government organizations in Azerbaijan.

Last month, Azerbaijan appointed a permanent ambassador to Israel, making it the only Shiite country to have an embassy in the Jewish state.
