The Israel Dog Unit (IDU), a nonprofit specializing in locating missing persons and offering security to towns in Judea and Samaria conducted a special exercise on Monday evening together with cadets from the officers' training course of the IDF's Gefen Battalion.
In the exercise, the officers simulated missing persons deep in rough terrain and their detection and rescue by IDU dogs and drones. In another portion of the exercise, the officers simulated terrorist infiltration into a Samaria town. Both exercises were declared a success.
IDU director Yekutiel Ben-Yaakov commented, "I congratulate the IDF soldiers from the Geffen Battalion for their professionalism and determination. The combination of forces produced success in the field. This was an important and challenging exercise both for the dogs and for soldiers who were exposed to the capabilities of working dogs in the field."
