Palestinian Arab sources reported that clashes broke out in Jenin during an IDF arrest operation in the city overnight Wednesday.

According to the reports, a senior member of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization and two members of his family were arrested by the Israeli troops.

It was also reported that a gunbattle developed between the Israeli soldiers and armed terrorists during the arrest operation, in which at least two armed men were killed and several Palestinian Arabs were seriously injured.

Overnight Tuesday, IDF soldiers, together with the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the Border Police, operated in several locations in the Judea and Samaria area, arresting wanted terrorists and seizing weapons.

In addition, the IDF soldiers secured the entry of worshipers to the Joseph’s Tomb complex in Shechem (Nablus).

During the activity, suspects threw rocks, firebombs and explosives at the forces who responded with riot dispersal measures. The soldiers also fired back at the armed terrorists who fired at them. There were no injuries to the Israeli forces.

The arrested suspects and the confiscated weapons were transferred to the security forces.
