Following an attempted lynching of a mother and her son who accidentally entered Jenin last week, the Religious Zionist Party has installed new directional signs to major roads and destinations across northern Samaria in an effort to prevent similar navigation errors.
“Northern Samaria is a flourishing region, renewing itself through settlement. The entire Israeli public is welcome to come, travel and visit without fear," the party said.
“Terror is not allowed to control the roads," the party added, saying the initiative is also intended to strengthen Israelis’ connection to communities in northern Samaria and make the area more accessible and familiar to the public.
The initiative follows an incident last Thursday in which a mother and her son, residents of Samaria, accidentally entered Jenin while traveling to meet friends in Afula.
According to the mother, she realized they had been directed into the city after dozens of Arabs approached their vehicle, attempted to open the doors, and threw stones at the car.
The mother managed to flee the area with her son and continued driving until they reached an IDF force. Neither was injured, although their vehicle was damaged.
The IDF said the two civilians had mistakenly entered the urban area of Jenin and were attacked by terrorists who threw stones at their vehicle. Following the report, IDF forces entered the city to conduct operations and arrest wanted suspects.
The IDF again emphasized that entry into Area A is prohibited and dangerous for Israelis and constitutes a violation of Israeli law.
