National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir met Sunday morning with Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai, their first meeting since Ben-Gvir was sworn-in on Thursday. The two will hold additional meetings in the coming days.

A ceremony marking the formal change of the Public Security Ministry into the National Security Ministry will be held at 2 pm on Sunday afternoon.

The ceremony will be held in the presence of outgoing Public Security Minister Omer Barlev, incoming National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai, Israel Prison Service chief Katy Perry. outgoing Public Security Ministry Director-General Tomer Lotan, Witness Protection Program Director Commander (ret.) Avi Neuman, and other dignitaries.

Israel Hayom reported Sunday that National Security Minister Ben-Gvir will also open an office in Be'er Sheva - in addition to the ministry offices in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. This is the first decision made by the minister in his new position.

The new office will be focused on personal and national security issues in the south.
