The Tel Aviv District Court rejected Yair Netanyahu's appeal of the verdict of the Magistrate's Court in the defamation lawsuit filed against him by Avi Alkalay, a former senior editor at Walla.
The Magistrate's Court ordered Yair to compensate Avi Alkalay in the amount of NIS 250,000. After the appeal was rejected, Netanyahu will be obligated to pay Alkalay a further funding of legal expenses in the amount of approximately 30 thousand shekels. The total payment Yair will have to make to Alkalay has accumulated to about 400 thousand shekels.
Alkalay filed the lawsuit in 2019 after Yair accused him of being planted by the Wexner Foundation as part of conspiracy against his father, then-prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and stating that he should be arrested and prosecuted.
Yair Netanyahu now intends to file an appeal with the Supreme Court against the verdict.
