El Al Director General Dina Ben Tal Ganancia on Monday said that the airline will operate direct flights from Israel to Australia.

In her statement, made at a tourism conference, Ben Tal Ganancia said that the flights were subject to the approval of their passage over Saudi Arabian airspace, which El Al hopes to receive. She also said that the flights would last around 15 hours, similar to El Al's flights to Los Angeles.

At the same time, El Al will renew its plans to operate direct flights to Tokyo - a plan which had been in place before the coronavirus pandemic, and which was buried after the pandemic broke out, Globes quoted her as saying..

Another destination which had been on El Al's list before the pandemic but was not implemented due to the pandemic is Dublin, Ireland, to which the airline plans to operate direct flights.

If the flights to Tokyo and Australia do become reality, El Al will be the only airline to operate direct flights on those routes.

Ben Tal Ganancia said, "One of the first meetings we held was with our digital developers in Madrid, to ensure that they are following the entire digital transformation. We will reach a world in which everything is done by means of applications, including boarding notices, where luggage is located, and notices regarding upgrades to flight tickets."
