Israel is preparing for the reopening of Ben Gurion Airport on Thursday, Minister of Transportation Miri Regev announced this evening (Tuesday).

Initially, no flights will depart for international destinations, but there will be two landings per hour. The airport will operate 24 hours a day. The flights arriving will be fully booked after departing empty from Israel. In the first phase, only Israeli airlines will land at Ben Gurion Airport.

Immediately after landing at Ben Gurion Airport, passengers will disembark directly to passport control, baggage claim, and rapid exit from the terminal. The aircraft will remain on the ground for as short a time as possible and will then take off again for international destinations.

Earlier, the Ministry of Transportation announced the establishment of a transport system for passengers returning to Israel via the Taba crossing in Egypt. According to the ministry’s announcement, buses will be available to passengers landing at Taba airport and crossing the border. These buses will wait at the exit of the terminal in the Israeli area, in coordination with the arrival times of the return flights.

Following the outbreak of the war with Iran, Israeli airlines began preparations for operations to bring back Israelis stranded abroad. Yesterday, Hungarian airline Wizz Air announced that it would also join the effort to return Israelis from abroad, along with Greek airline Bluebird.
