Diaspora Affairs Minister Dr. Nachman Shai called the month of Ramadan which ends today "relatively peaceful" despite the violence on and surrounding the Temple Mount and the murder of a security guard in a terrorist attack Ariel on Friday night.
"We got through the month of Ramadan relatively peacefully," Minister Shai said in an interview with Galai Tzahal (IDF Radio). "I regret the attack over the weekend and others, but we can say to ourselves that our careful and restrained behavior has managed to achieve good results."
Religious Zionism party chairman MK Bezalel Smotrich responded: "15 murdered. But the government survived and its survival conditions remain, so we 'got through the month of Ramadan relatively peacefully. It proves [Public Security Minister] Omer Barlev's detachment."
11 people were murdered in terrorist attacks in Israel in March in the weeks preceding Ramadan. A further four Israelis were murdered in terrorist attacks during Ramadan, including three who were murdered in a shooting attack in Tel Aviv on April 7.
