A senior police officer with the rank of Chief Superintendent, serving in the Lahav 433 national crime unit, was lightly wounded Monday morning after a bullet was accidentally discharged from his personal handgun.
Police said that following the accidental discharge, an official report was submitted to the appropriate officials in the Department for the Investigation of Police Officers.
"In accordance with Israel Police procedures, a report was submitted to the Department for the Investigation of Police Officers, and following its approval, an investigating officer will be appointed to [examine] the incident," Israel Police said.
