Hundreds of police officers, volunteers and patrol cars will be deployed across Israel tomorrow (Wednesday), from the early morning hours until late at night, as part of a major traffic enforcement operation led by the Israel Police Traffic Division.
The operation will focus on road segments designated by the Traffic Division’s Research and Development Department as “high-impact roads" - areas identified as having a significant effect on traffic safety.
Police will concentrate on preventing reckless driving and serious traffic violations that endanger lives, while stepping up enforcement against two-wheeled vehicle riders, new drivers and operators of heavy vehicles, including trucks, buses and other vehicles used to transport passengers.
All branches of the Traffic Division will participate in the operation, including the National Traffic Police, the National Motorcycle Unit and the Enforcement Technology Section, which is responsible for issuing digital citations. The Heavy Vehicle Unit will also be assigned responsibility for enforcement along Route 6.
The operation will employ a range of advanced enforcement technologies, including still cameras, tactical cameras, laser speed guns (LIDAR) and A3 speed-detection systems.
In addition, the Israel Police Air Unit, together with the police drone network, will monitor the roads from the air and document traffic violations.
