Sinai preschool in Rosh Ha'ayin canceled its program abruptly on Monday morning after parents and administration decided not to open the gates.
The decision came after three separate intrusions into the preschool compound within days of each other.
According to parents, the series of incidents began last Thursday, when a woman who was apparently suffering from mental health issues entered the preschool building and caused extensive property damage.
The following day, Friday, staff arrived to discover that the building's windows had been broken, prompting the cancellation of classes that day. But the incidents did not end there: Another intrusion into the preschool was reported on Saturday.
The repeated intrusions have sparked outrage and serious concern among parents, who are angry over what they say is a lack of security and an inadequate response from the municipality.
"For us, the issue isn't the property damage, but the safety and security of our children," the parents said. "When something like this happens three times in a row, it can't be treated as an isolated incident. We demand that the municipality fix the deficiencies and provide perimeter security before the children return to preschool."
Classes at the preschool have been completely suspended until adequate security arrangements are implemented.
