The Religious Zionist Party's central committee approved Sunday evening the technical bloc agreement with Moshe Feiglin’s Zehut party.
Alongside approving the agreement, central committee members authorized party chairman and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to work toward additional alliances ahead of the election.
The decision was made at a meeting of the party's central committee, attended by Smotrich, party CEO Yehuda Wald and central committee members, including municipal representatives from across the country.
Smotrich welcomed the approval of the agreement and presented it as the first step in a broader effort to forge political alliances.
"This is a time for unity and responsibility in the national camp. I welcome the final approval of the agreement with the Zehut party, as the first step toward additional alliances that must be pursued out of responsibility for the future of the national camp and the State of Israel," he said.
Smotrich also directly addressed Ofer Winter, chairman of the Amcha Yisrael party, and called on him to join the alliance.
"I call on Ofer Winter to come to his senses, join forces, and not cause votes to be lost and the left to come to power," Smotrich said.
The appeal comes against the backdrop of a Kan 11 News poll published Sunday evening that also examined the possibility of a joint run by Smotrich, Moshe Feiglin and Ofer Winter.
According to the poll, the existing alliance between the Religious Zionist Party and Zehut receives six seats. Amcha Yisrael, headed by Winter, receives four seats when running separately and crosses the electoral threshold for the second consecutive week.
However, in a scenario in which Winter joins Smotrich and Feiglin, the united slate receives 11 seats. That is one more seat than the combined total the two lists receive when running separately, according to the same poll.
In the full poll, Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar! party leads with 23 seats, while Likud receives 20 and Naftali Bennett's Together party receives 13. The alliance between Yoaz Hendel's Reservists party and Yaron Zelekha's Economic Party crosses the electoral threshold with four seats.
