Israel Police's National Counterterrorism Unit (Yamam) on Sunday night arrested a 37-year-old wanted terrorist in Shechem (Nablus).
The terrorist is suspected of involvement in terrorist activity and past membership in the Lions' Den terrorist organization. The operation was carried out based on intelligence provided by the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet).
According to a joint statement by the Israel Police and IDF, the suspect had been wanted for arrest since his previous activity with Lions' Den in Shechem. The terrorist organization was thwarted by Israeli security forces in 2022.
Security officials say that over the years, the suspect worked to advance terrorist activity and attempted to carry out terror attacks against Israeli civilians. Following the intelligence received, Yamam officers prepared an operation to arrest him.
Yamam officers covertly reached the suspect's home in Shechem and took him by surprise. He was arrested without any injuries to Israeli forces.
Following his arrest, the suspect was transferred to the Shin Bet for further questioning. Police and the IDF said there were no injuries among Israeli forces.
