A large-scale enforcement operation was carried out by security forces in eastern Jerusalem, during which teams from the Jerusalem District Central Unit, Border Police officers, and representatives of the Defense Ministry’s National Bureau for Counter-Terror Financing raided the homes of terrorists and their families.
The targets of the operation were terrorists with Israeli citizenship or residency who had been released as part of hostage deals and who continued to receive stipends and financial payments from the Palestinian Authority because of the terrorist attacks they had committed.
During the operation at the homes, five vehicles, various pieces of gold jewelry, and approximately NIS 96,000 in cash were seized and confiscated. The total value of the property seized in the raids is estimated at hundreds of thousands of shekels.
The operation to seize and confiscate the property was carried out on the basis of administrative seizure orders issued by Defense Minister Israel Katz targeting financial support provided by the Palestinian Authority.
Among the homes searched was that of Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Abad, who was involved in an attempt to carry out a suicide bombing in Jerusalem in 2002, as well as the home of Ahed Faiz Ali al-Natsheh, a Hamas member who was involved in planning the bombing of a car in a parking lot in Pisgat Ze’ev in 2001 and an attack at the Clal Center in the capital, in which two police officers and ten civilians were wounded.
