A 24-year-old Israeli was moderately wounded on Sunday morning in what appears to be a stabbing attack near al-Auja, north of Jericho.
According to initial details of the incident, the Jewish victim entered the village to go shopping.
The incident was reported to MDA’s 101 emergency dispatch center in the Gilboa region at 9:18 a.m. The injured man was brought to a rendezvous point with MDA teams near the village.
After receiving initial medical treatment, he was evacuated by an intensive care ambulance to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. He was fully conscious and listed in moderate condition.
The terrorist fled the scene, and security forces, including forces from a special unit and the Air Force, are pursuing him. Security blockades have been established on the nearby roads and in the area. The IDF noted that it is in ongoing contact with residents and security officials in the area.
United Hatzalah EMT Yonatan Avrahami reported: “According to bystanders, the young man was stabbed after stopping to make a purchase at a store near the village of Al Auja. Together with an IDF intensive care ambulance team, I provided him with initial medical treatment at the scene. At this stage, his condition is classified as moderate and stable."
