Days after unknown individuals vandalized Israeli flags displayed at Rawabi Square in Binyamin, activists from the Im Tirtzu movement, teenagers from the community of Ateret, and volunteers, in cooperation with the Binyamin Regional Council, arrived at the site and restored the flags.
As part of the initiative, all of the damaged flags were repaired or replaced, and approximately 50 additional Israeli flags were installed around the square and its surroundings. According to the participants, the initiative was intended to send a message of an increased Israeli presence at the site.
The flags are part of a project to line Binyamin's roads with Israeli flags, under which hundreds of flags have been placed along Route 465, from the British Police Junction, through Birzeit and Rawabi, to the communities of Ateret and Neve Tzuf.
Binyamin Regional Council head and Yesha Council chairman Israel Ganz said: "The anarchists tried to harm the Israeli presence and got the opposite response-for every flag that was vandalized, we put up another. Exactly opposite Rawabi and near Birzeit University, Israeli flags are flying proudly. In the face of those who try to undermine the Israeli hold, the answer is clear: more flags, more settlement, and more sovereignty."
Im Tirtzu Field Division head Ben Bohbut added: "No anarchist will stop us. We will continue to proudly fly the Israeli flag throughout the Land of Israel."
