Jerusalem Envelope Border Police officers and Crossing Unit officers on Thursday arrested 16 illegal infiltrators who were hiding behind a false wall inside a truck that arrived at the Mizmoria Crossing. The truck driver, a resident of one of Jerusalem's Arab neighborhoods, was arrested on suspicion of transporting them.
The forces, which were operating at the crossing as part of routine security activity, received intelligence from the Jerusalem Envelope Border Police.
According to the intelligence, the truck was suspected of transporting illegal infiltrators from Judea and Samaria into Israel.
Acting on the intelligence, officers identified the truck when it arrived at the crossing and stopped it for inspection. During a thorough search, the officers discovered a false wall inside the vehicle.
Behind the wall, they found 16 illegal infiltrators hiding inside. According to police, none had legal permits to enter or remain in Israel. The officers arrested all 16, along with the truck driver.
The driver and the 16 illegal infiltrators were transferred for further questioning by the Border Police's unit for investigations and intelligence.
