Michal and Tal, who had planned to marry in about a year, decided to move up their wedding and hold it at Shaare Zedek Medical Center so that Michal’s mother, Hannah, could be by her side. Hannah is hospitalized in the surgical intensive care unit and requires a continuous high-flow oxygen supply.
The couple wanted to hold the event as close to Hannah as possible, but her serious medical condition made it difficult to take her out of the unit.
Shaare Zedek staff stepped in and adapted a special device for her, which the hospital said is available only at the medical center.
The device provides high-flow oxygen and operates with a dedicated battery that allows for extended oxygen delivery. The hospital explained that it also enables patients who depend on oxygen to leave the unit and move around under close staff supervision.
Preparations for the wedding were carried out in cooperation with the Department of Religious Services, the Respiratory Care Unit, and the medical and nursing teams in the surgical intensive care unit.
Hannah left the unit accompanied by staff from the Respiratory Care Unit, led by Michal Shitrit, and attended her daughter’s wedding.
The wedding was held in the family area of the surgical department at Shaare Zedek. Dozens of Michal and Tal’s family members and friends came to the event, celebrated with the couple, and wished Hannah a full recovery.
