US Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism Ambassador Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun praised Saudi Arabia's efforts to improve its school curricula and remove concerning themes from educational materials.
“We appreciate Saudi Arabia’s continued efforts to improve school curricula, including work to address concerning themes in textbooks," Kaploun said.
The ambassador linked the issue of education to the broader effort to promote peaceful relations and coexistence in the Middle East.
“President Trump and Secretary Rubio have been clear: in the spirit of the Abraham Accords, let us build on the vision of our shared forefather Abraham to promote peace and coexistence between our peoples," he added.
Kaploun serves as the US State Department's Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism. President Donald Trump announced his nomination to the position in 2025.
Kaploun's comments follow the release of a report on Saudi textbooks by the Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education (IMPACT-se) in late July which found that "Saudi Arabia's 2024-26 curriculum continues its trajectory of positive educational reform, further strengthening messages of peace, coexistence, and critical thinking while reducing extremist content."
