A prosecutor’s notice has been filed against four Palestinians suspected of attacking an IDF soldier who was on leave and stealing his weapon near Susya approximately two weeks ago. Police said indictments against the suspects are expected to be filed in the coming days.
The incident took place on July 25, when the soldier was grazing his flock in an area near Susya. According to police, the location consisted of state land and land designated for grazing. The police investigation found that one of the suspects initially approached the soldier in an attempt to drive him away. Three additional suspects then allegedly joined him, and the four attacked the soldier, took his weapon, and fled the scene.
Following the incident, IDF and Israel Police forces launched an operation to locate the suspects. All four were arrested, and the stolen weapon was recovered. The suspects’ detention was repeatedly extended at the request of police. After investigators completed their work and established an evidentiary foundation, the Military Prosecution for Judea submitted a prosecutor’s notice against the four.
The Judea and Samaria police commander Moshe Pinchi called the incident serious and praised the forces involved in locating the suspects and recovering the weapon. “This is a serious incident in which a soldier was attacked and his weapon was stolen. The Judea and Samaria District police officers acted decisively and professionally, together with Border Police forces and IDF forces, to locate the suspects, detain them and return the weapon."
“We are completing a significant step in bringing the legal process to fruition with those involved," he added. “The Judea and Samaria District will continue to act decisively to maintain security, governance and sovereignty, and will not allow incidents of this type to become routine or to undermine the security of residents of the area and the security forces operating there."
