Elad Deputy Mayor and Otzma Yehudit representative attorney Yaniv Badalov has filed a complaint against medical and security staff at Ichilov Medical Center, alleging serious misconduct during his father's hospitalization.
Badalov claims he saw an elderly patient sitting in a chair with blood flowing from her arm and accumulating on the floor, while she received no treatment for more than 30 minutes.
He said he approached medical staff and asked them to assist the woman, but alleged that a nurse denied that she was bleeding. According to Badalov, security personnel and the hospital's security officer were later called following his repeated complaints.
Badalov further alleges that the department physician told him his father would not receive treatment as long as he remained in the department.
"As long as you don't leave the department, your father will not receive treatment," Badalov quoted the doctor as saying.
Badalov said he responded that he intended to pursue legal and disciplinary proceedings against the physician. He claimed the doctor interpreted his statement as a threat, while he intended to make clear that he would take legal action.
According to the complaint, the hospital's security officer subsequently asked Badalov to leave the department for several minutes. He also alleges that a security guard told him: "You'd better transfer your father to another hospital - they won't treat him."
Badalov is demanding a disciplinary investigation into the nurse, physician and other staff members he says were involved in the incident. He is also seeking an investigation into the treatment of the elderly patient and the conduct toward his father.
Speaking to Arutz Sheva-Israel National News, Badalov said: "This is medicine under extortion. They told me that if I don't leave the department, they won't treat my father. What is that if not terror?"
Ichilov Medical Center said in response: "The case is currently undergoing an in-depth examination by all relevant parties at the hospital. Once the examination is completed, which is expected in the coming days, the findings will be reviewed and, if necessary, appropriate measures will be taken."
