A Hezbollah explosive drone struck the vehicle of Northern Command chief Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo in southern Lebanon, shortly after he and an additional officer had exited the vehicle.
No injuries were reported, but the vehicle sustained damage.
The incident occurred a few weeks ago, while Milo and other commanders visited the area.
The IDF stated: “During one of the operational tours held by Northern Command chief Maj. Gen. Rafi Milo among the forces operating in the combat zone in Lebanon, an explosive drone was launched toward the place where he was located. No damage was caused and there were no injuries."
Earlier, Galei Zahal (Army Radio) reported that criticism had been voiced following the decision to hold the Golani Brigade change-of-command ceremony in an open area at the Beaufort Castle, under the threat of explosive drones.
Three senior commanders - 36th Division commander Brig. Gen. Yiftach Norkin, outgoing brigade commander Col. Adi Ganon, and incoming brigade commander Col. Ayoub Kayuf - were documented in the field without helmets, in complete contrast to accepted procedures for operational conduct in enemy territory.
Just minutes after the ceremony, a Hezbollah explosive drone was launched toward another force operating in southern Lebanon.
Only a few weeks ago, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir spoke before the IDF’s senior command forum about the need for operational discipline, in light of the serious threat posed by explosive drones, which has so far claimed the lives of more than 10 IDF soldiers.
