Rabbi Yigal Cohen, a member of the Chief Rabbinate Council and head of the "Yabia Omer" institutions, on Saturday night warned the haredi public about attempts by Iranian elements to recruit them.

According to him, security officials informed him that hostile actors are approaching members of the haredi community and asking them to photograph sensitive sites or transfer weapons.

"Security officials approached me and said that within the haredi public we are harming ourselves," Rabbi Cohen said in a recorded message. "The Iranians are asking people to photograph locations for them, to transfer weapons - and some are being tempted."

Rabbi Cohen described the phenomenon as a "desecration of G-d’s Name" and a "betrayal of the nation."

He warned, "They want to harm Jewish souls. Even photographing a location is dangerous - they can direct missiles to those places."

"This leads to arrest as security prisoners, imprisonment alongside terrorists. It can reach the darkest places," he added.

Concluding his remarks, Rabbi Cohen urged: "If you receive a message from Iranians asking even for a photo, do not engage and report it immediately to the police."
