Sergeant Liran Ben Zion fell in combat in southern Lebanon, the IDF announced.

Ben Zion, aged 19 from Holon, served as a soldier of the 9th battalion, 401st Brigade, and fell during combat in southern Lebanon.

In the incident in which Sergeant Liran Ben Zion fell, an armored corps officer was severely injured.

The officer was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, and his family has been notified.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mourned: "Together with all citizens of Israel, my wife and I offer our deepest condolences to the family of Armored Corps soldier, Sergeant Liran Ben Zion, of blessed memory, who fell in battle in southern Lebanon."

"Liran, of blessed memory, fought heroically on the front lines to defend our communities and our citizens against the Hezbollah terrorist organization.

"We embrace Liran’s family and share in their profound grief over this heavy loss.

"May his memory be blessed and cherished forever."
