Passengers on a Mano Shipping cruise, who arrived in Crete, were attacked on Tuesday morning while going for a walk along the beach. The group was confronted by pro-Palestinian demonstrators who were gathered on streets near the local synagogue.

The attackers provoked the Jewish visitors, pushed them violently, spat on them, attempted to snatch their phones, and threw beer glasses at the Israelis.

Efrat, one of the passengers, described the encounter to Mako as a frightening and distressing incident, in which the attackers, rampaging near the synagogue, tried to engage the Israelis physically in order to provoke a confrontation.

The local police arrived only after several minutes, but in the meantime, local Greeks stepped in to defend the Israelis.
