US President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday night that the newly established Board of Peace, tasked with overseeing Gaza’s management until the end of 2027, will include the heads of many major countries.

His remarks were made during a White House dinner honoring visiting Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

“I hope your highness will be on the board,” Trump said to the Crown Prince. “Everybody wants to be on the board, and it’ll end up being quite a large board because it’ll be the heads of every major country.”

The comments came one day after the UN Security Council adopted a resolution granting the US-led Board of Peace a broad mandate to manage Gaza for the next two years, as part of Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza.

Trump thanked bin Salman for his role in securing last month’s ceasefire in Gaza, though he did not elaborate on the details.

“While it looks a little bit messy… [Gaza] is getting very close to being perfected,” Trump claimed.

He also praised the return of hostages as part of the deal to end the war, though he incorrectly stated that the Hamas terrorist organization still has two bodies of hostages left to return, when the actual number is three.

“A lot of work has been done by Hamas, and a lot of a lot of people said they wouldn’t be doing that,” Trump stated.

The dinner followed Trump’s earlier meeting at the White House with the Saudi Crown Prince.

After the meeting, the White House announced that the two leaders finalized a sweeping series of agreements that significantly deepen the US-Saudi strategic partnership.
