A senior diplomatic source has stressed that Israel will remain in Gaza, and there is no ceasefire with Hamas.
"We are now in the first stage of this framework," the source said. "The IDF remains in Gaza, and any withdrawal will be only to the yellow line and to the encirclement of Gaza City during the hostage release stage."
"No one is withdrawing at this point — this is a reduction of fire, not a ceasefire. In the first stage, all hostages will be released, and from there, negotiations will continue."
On Saturday night, US President Donald Trump commended Israel for halting its offensive operations in the Gaza Strip at his request.
"I appreciate that Israel has temporarily stopped the bombing in order to give the hostage release and peace deal a chance to be completed," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Hamas must move quickly, or else all bets will be off."
Trump also warned: "I will not tolerate delay, which many think will happen, or any outcome where Gaza poses a threat again. Let’s get this done, fast. Everyone will be treated fairly!"
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to hold a press conference at 8:00 p.m. (Israel time).
