The IDF released footage of the militants who emerged from a tunnel on Wednesday morning, intending to attack soldiers in Khan Yunis. The footage also shows the elimination of one of the terrorists who tried to escape.
Lieutenant A., a deputy company commander in the Kfir Brigade, recounted the battle with terrorists who surprised the troops on Wednesday morning in an attempt to abduct soldiers.
"Today at 9:00 a.m., more than 15 militants carried out a coordinated attack with gunfire against our forces. Thanks to the battalion's soldiers' alertness and vigilance, we managed to eliminate about ten armed terrorists in a close-quarters battle and with air support.
"As a result of the gunfire, three soldiers were wounded. We will continue to work to find and eliminate terrorists, and we will fulfill every mission we are charged with."
An IDF tank was filmed during the incident running over a terrorist who attempted to launch an RPG at it.
A cell of at least 18 armed terrorists attempted to raid an IDF outpost along the Morag Corridor in Khan Yunis, opening fire with firearms and antitank fire.
The terrorists reached the entrance to the fortified position, with some managing to breach it and fire directly at the troops on guard. Soldiers from the Nachshon Battalion of the Kfir Brigade returned fire, killing around ten terrorists in close-quarters combat, while the remaining attackers fled back into nearby tunnels.
Assessments indicate the terrorists emerged simultaneously from several adjacent shafts. Three Kfir soldiers were wounded in the unusual incident — one seriously and two moderately.
Two UAVs accompanied the entire incident, providing intelligence and carrying out precision strikes. The drones first issued a warning over communications at 09:01, began scanning within minutes, and carried out the first aerial strike at 09:18.
