Member of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, MK Moshe Solomon (Religious Zionist Party), spoke with Arutz Sheva-Israel National News on Tuesday regarding the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran. He noted that the agreement was achieved through mediation by Qatar and the United States and fulfilled a key Israeli demand made about a year ago: the removal of Iran’s existential threat and its missile-launch capabilities.
MK Solomon explained that the primary objective was “to eliminate the threat, to stop the nuclearization,” adding that the ballistic threat to Israel has now been “neutralized for at least decades.”
While acknowledging that some threats still remain, Solomon stressed that Israel will continue to act “decisively against targets that still exist there.” He added, “All nuclear scientists have been eliminated, and all capabilities for continued nuclear development have been destroyed.”
When asked whether the agreement represents sufficient progress, Solomon replied, “We stopped the development. We completely dismantled their capabilities, and I am confident that a clause in the agreement will commit Iran to not pursue further nuclear development.”
On the implications for Gaza, he noted, “The ceasefire agreement with Iran will also affect Hamas,” explaining that the terrorist group “will realize they have no backing” and will lose its primary source of financial and logistical support.
In closing, MK Solomon addressed the ongoing discussion over the possible ousting of MK Ayman Odeh from the Knesset. “Terror supporter Odeh continues to incite against IDF soldiers and does not represent the Arab public in Israel,” he said.
“His place is not in the Israeli Knesset. Seventy Knesset members have already signed the initiative to remove him, and I hope legal counsel will not stand in the way of the impeachment process.”
