The rabbis of the Tunisian community in Israel and around the world on Friday morning published a letter calling for a special mass prayer on the seventh night of Passover for the recovery of Rabbi Meir Mazuz, head of the Kisei Rahamim yeshiva.

The letter was published in light of Rabbi Mazuz's condition, which continues to be very serious and has not improved.

Titled, "The Torah scroll is in sorrow," the rabbis' letter calls on the public to gather at midnight in the synagogues, open the Holy Ark and petition in prayer for Rabbi Rafael Meir Nissim ben Kamsana Mazuz.

The letter also noted that in communities of North African origin, the seventh night of Passover is considered an auspicious time for prayers.

“This is a time of will that God will fill upon him with mercy and heal him quickly,” the letter, signed by the community's rabbis, including the Chief Rabbi of Tunis and Djerba, Rabbi Chaim Beitan, and the elderly rabbi of the seats in the Land of Israel, Rabbi Shalom Hacohen, wrote.
