The opposition on Saturday praised the IDF over the historic attack in Iran, but criticized the government over the targets that were selected to be attacked.
Opposition chairman Yair Lapid published a statement in which he wrote, among other things, "I praise the Air Force, which once again demonstrated operational capabilities at the highest level in the world and its air superiority."
"The decision not to attack strategic and economic targets in Iran was wrong. We could and should have exacted a much heavier price from Iran. Iran is the head of the axis of evil, and must pay a heavy price for its aggression," he added.
Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avigdor Liberman continued in the same manner and wrote, "The action of the Air Force in Iran brought to light the impressive capabilities of the IDF and the highest professionalism of our pilots."
"But along with this success, we cannot ignore the difficult reality and the fact that the Iranians will not stop here. They will continue their efforts to obtain nuclear weapons and they will continue to transfer the funds from the sale of oil and gas to Hezbollah, the Houthis, the Shiite militias and various proxies."
Liberman concluded, "Unfortunately, it seems that instead of collecting a real price, the Israeli government is once again content with showmanship and public relations. Buying silence instead of a clear decision. The time has come to act in a way that reflects our strength, not just talk about it."
The chairman of the Democrats, Yair Golan, expressed hope that the Israeli attack is a "closing response", writing, "The American pressure worked, or the voice of military logic worked for a change, but as things currently stand there is a great potential that the Israeli response damaged Iran's defensiveness and offensiveness capabilities, but without dragging us into a certain war of attrition, which is not within the scope of Israel's security and national interests."
