Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir criticized US Vice President Kamala Harris for a tweet she posted bemoaning the humanitarian situation in Lebanon in which she did not mention the tens of thousands of Israelis who have been forced to evacuate from their homes for a year by the constant rocket attacks from the Hezbollah terrorist organization.
Harris wrote, "The people of Lebanon are facing an increasingly dire humanitarian situation. I am concerned about the security and well-being of civilians suffering in Lebanon and will continue working to help meet the needs of all civilians there."
She added, "To that end, the United States will provide nearly $157 million in additional assistance to the people of Lebanon for essential needs such as food, shelter, water, protection, and sanitation to help those who have been displaced by the recent conflict. This additional support brings total U.S. assistance to Lebanon over the last year to over $385 million."
Ben-Gvir wrote in response to the Vice President's post, "Kamala, the humanitarian act is to make sure all the citizens of northern Israel return home safe and sound, against all enemies."
Harris met with Muslim leaders in Flint, Michigan on Friday in an attempt to shore up support among Muslim voters in the crucial swing state. During her meetings, Harris expressed concern over the humanitarian situations in Gaza and Lebanon and reiterated her desire for a ceasefire to end the current war.
