The town of Nof Ayalon on Monday announced that resident Captain Mordechai Kadmon fell in Gaza. He was killed when a grenade detonated while he was not performing operational activity on Monday morning in the Gaza Strip.
The Military Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident after which the findings will be sent to the Military Prosecution.
Mordechai is the son of Rabbi Yitzhak and Michal, and the grandson of Miriam and Zvi Samuel - the Director General of the Shaalvim educational campus.
"We embrace the Kadmon family during its difficult hour, and ask that the Creator of the World put an end to our sorrows," Nof Ayalon said in a statement.
Mordechai studied in the Netzer Matai hesder yeshiva in the city of Ariel, and enlisted as a combat engineer after studying two years in the yeshiva. He then continued on to an officers' course.
He was expected to be released from IDF service next month.
