The community of Elazar in Gush Etzion reported this evening (Monday) that Nachman Hertz, a resident of the town, was killed in a kamikaze UAV attack in Metula.

"The community of Elazar mourns and shares in the grief of the Hertz family, Joana-Shoshana, Abigail and Talia for the death of their husband and father Nachman Natan ben Moshe," the council stated.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at noon at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem.

Israeli journalist Hanoch Daum eulogized Nachman and said, "The late Nachman fell today at the northern border. He immigrated to Israel from France a few years ago and lived here in Elazar in Gush Etzion."

"Nachman was drafted into the battles on October 7 and fell as a hero in defense of the homeland that he was proud to serve. The late Nachman Hertz is the fourth fallen soldier that we have here in Elazar since October 7. Rinat Zagdon was murdered at the Nova festival. David Schwartz, an engineering corps soldier, was killed in Gaza, and Ariel Wollfstal, a combat officer who also fell in Gaza, and left behind a pregnant wife who is due to give birth soon. A small settlement, but it has paid such a painful price," Daum said.
