Israel Police and the Shin Bet have foiled terror attacks planned by two ISIS-supporting terrorists in Jerusalem.
The suspects, both residents of Jerusalem's Arab neighborhoods, planned to prepare explosives and other means of destruction, which they intended to use to target security forces.
However, police and the Shin Bet exposed their plans and arrested the suspects before they could carry out an attack.
In November 2022, Israeli security forces identified and captured the Arab terrorist believed responsible for a pair of bombings in Jerusalem that left two people dead and over a dozen injured.
Eslam Froukh, a 26-year-old mechanical engineer living in Israel with no prior known ties to terrorism, was arrested following an investigation by the Shin Bet internal security agency, Jerusalem District police, and the IDF. The additional suspects arrested in the bust were later found not to have had any connection with the case and were released.
In December 2019, Israeli police said Wednesday they had arrested two Arabs from eastern Jerusalem suspected of plotting with the Islamic State group to attack Israelis in the Holy City.
A police statement said "concrete intelligence" directed undercover officers disguised as Arabs to homes in the Jabel Mukaber neighborhood Jerusalem where they arrested the men.
