Today (Tuesday), Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant held an operational situation assessment in the IDF’s Southern Command, where he reviewed operational plans for future combat. He also held discussions with commanders and combat soldiers in the Givati patrol battalion, who participated in combat in northern Gaza, and are currently preparing for the resumption of combat.

Minister Gallant told the soldiers: “You have the ability to go everywhere and execute every mission.”

“We are working to defeat Hamas and create the conditions for the return of the hostages. So far, 50 have been released [from] inside the Gaza Strip, among them 30 children. This was achieved as a result of your actions. When you do not pressure Hamas, nothing happens, however when you do place pressure, you have something to give them.

“What you will meet [on the battlefield] is the opposite [from what you are expected to do] - we operate to free hostages and are careful not to harm the [Palestinian] civilian population, wherever we can. Hamas on the other hand, uses the civilian population as a human shield. We do not harm civilians deliberately – we try to isolate them in the battlefield, while on the other hand striking Hamas. These are our principles.

“Use this time well. Learn all the lessons [from previous combat] and discuss the relevant lessons. Be prepared,” Gallant said.
