An Israeli diplomatic official claimed that the negotiations over a prisoner-swap deal that would return Israeli hostages from Hamas captivity are progressing, Channel 12 reported Wednesday.
The plan that was proposed to Israel includes the release of 50 hostages, including mothers and children, with Israel refusing to separate family members. This would be in exchange for a five-day ceasefire, allowing fuel to enter the Gaza Strip and the release of 150 terrorists who were not convicted of murdering Israelis.
The report adds that Israel is demanding that the ceasefire begins with the release of the first wave. The release would be gradual, with equal waves each day of the ceasefire.
Sources involved in the negotiations are split on whether this is the time to push for a larger deal, which would include the release of a larger number of hostages, or to agree on the current deal with the understanding that success would lead to additional deals.
