Security forces were called to the road between the town of Einav and Shavei Shomron in Samaria, due to concerns of a shooting attack.
Initial reports said that one person was in serious condition, and that a vehicle overturned as a result of the shooting. Shortly afterwards, it was reported that the victim had died of his wounds.
Magen David Adom (MDA) reported: "At 10:06, we received a report to our hotline regarding gunfire towards a vehicle on Route 557 near Beit Lid. As a result of the gunfire, the vehicle overturned. MDA paramedics have reported that a man of about 35 is in critical condition. Updates to follow."
Shortly afterwards, MDA said: "Following the incident on Route 557 near Beit Lid, MDA paramedics declared the death of the man in his 30s who suffered penetrative wounds."
Senior MDA paramedic Bentzi Landsberg said, "When we arrived at the scene we saw, in the bushes on the side of the road, a vehicle which was lying on its roof. The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 30s, was unconscious, had no heartbeat and was not breathing, and suffered penetrative wounds. We performed medical examinations, and within a short time we were forced to declare his death."
The IDF confirmed that a shooting attack had taken place, and said that the forces are pursuing the terrorist.
Later, the IDF said that it had begun a pursuit after the terrorists responsible for the shooting.
