Russia's ambassador to Israel, Anatoly Viktorov, was summoned on Sunday for a reprimand at the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem following the visit of a Hamas delegation to Moscow.

The Deputy Director General of the Euro-Asia Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Simona Halperin, made clear to the Russian ambassador that Israel views as serious the lack of an unequivocal and clear condemnation on the part of Moscow of Hamas.

She also expressed to Viktorov Israel's dissatisfaction with Russia's conduct in international organizations and the adoption of the Palestinian Arab position while clearly preferring it over the Israeli one.

"Hosting the leaders of Hamas, who are directly responsible for the murderous terrorist attack on October 7, for the abduction of hostages and for the murder of over 1,400 Israelis, conveys a message of legitimacy for terrorism against Israelis," Halperin told the Russian ambassador.
