In the midst of the war raging from the south and the north, haredi rabbis from the anti-Zionist Eidah Haharedit called for a special day of prayer to be held tomorrow in Jerusalem.
"The situation in the Holy Land is crying out for the mercy of Heaven, and the enemy sharpening its swords threatens the safety of the residents of the country, who for three consecutive weeks have been in a situation of fear and terror, and need the mercy of the Heaven."
According to the rabbis, "Each and every Jewish person is responsible for his own prayer and improvement, wherever he is, as well as to strengthen the foundations of Torah and holiness, which need the most improvement, especially at a time like this.”
The rabbis also called on each person to strengthen their own faith and urged them not to be tempted by ideas that advocate joining the IDF: “Each person must strengthen himself in his faith in Hashem and not rely on the security forces to save our people, as it says, 'A horse is a false hope for victory, and with his power, he will not escape (Psalms 33:17).'"
"And here is a prayer to be said in the time of trouble from the Torah, and especially now when they see that human salvation is in vain, and we can only raise our eyes to Heaven and pour our hearts out, asking for Hashem to watch over us with His great mercy, and to redeem us with His grace and bring us out of this trouble, and in general to pray for the salvation of Israel as a whole and individually.
"And we hereby request that all Jews, wherever they live, and all leaders of the Jewish nation, whether in Israel or in the Diaspora, participate in the global prayer," the rabbis wrote.
"And there is great power in the prayer of the multitudes to arouse the many mercies of Heaven, and Hashem will listen and hear the prayers for His people united in trouble, who pour out their hearts and pray for salvation, and out of this trouble Hashem will grant us redemption," the rabbis wrote, concluding their letter.
