IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari made a statement to the media on Saturday night, after ground forces entered the Gaza Strip over the weekend.
The IDF spokesman stated that, so far, notices have been given to the families of 311 IDF soldiers who fell in the battle for towns in southern Israel during Hamas’ October 7 attack, and that notices have been given to 230 families of hostages.
He was asked about Hamas' announcement on its willingness to pull out a deal which would see Israel release all terrorists from prison in exchange for the return of the hostages and replied, "[Hamas leader Yahya] Sinwar cannot issue announcements. This is psychological terrorism by Hamas whose goal is to manipulate the State of Israel. Nothing was on the table."
On the possibility of Israel attacking the Shifa hospital in Gaza, which has become a haven for Hamas terrorists, Hagari said, "All options are on the table".
The IDF spokesman did not deny that Israel knocked out the communication and electricity systems in the Gaza Strip on Friday night, clarifying, "We will do whatever is necessary for the security of our forces."
Earlier, Sinwar, in his first statement since the murderous surprise attack by Hamas, said, "We are ready immediately to carry out an exchange deal that includes the release of all the prisoners in the prisons in exchange for the release of all the prisoners held by the resistance."
