
The Israeli Foreign Ministry sent a message to Israelis in India in light of the recent rescue efforts for those in the area struck by flooding.
"Hello to all the Israelis in India! The Ministry of Foreign Affairs made contact with all those trapped in northern India. A joint activity of the Embassy of Israel in New Delhi and the Department for Israelis abroad has ended successfully."
Foreign Minister Eli Cohen commented: "During Shabbat, I received the welcome update that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has contacted all Israelis in northern India, in the areas affected by the typhoon."
"I would like to thank all the dedicated people at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who worked day and night to reach each and every one of the Israelis in the field, starting with the Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ronen Levy (Maoz), the staff of the consular wing and the department for Israelis abroad, the personnel of the situation room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Asia and Pacific Division, the Israeli Embassy in India and to the Deputy Ambassador, Ehad Naksh Kiner, who arrived via a helicopter hired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the affected area to make sure that we do not leave any Israeli disconnected."
"In the afternoon hours on Saturday (India time), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs managed to contact the last citizens cut off due to the typhoon in northern India.
"For the purpose of reaching the Israeli travelers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hired a helicopter in which Israel's Deputy Ambassador to India, Ehad Nakash Kiner, moved between the concentrations of travelers in the area in order to reach each and every one of the Israeli citizens.
"During the event, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs found over 500 Israelis cut off from contact in the area."
