Knesset members on Wednesday will hold a secret vote to elect their second representative in the Judicial Selection Committee, approximately one month after the last attempt..
MK Yitzik Kroizer (Otzma Yehudit) is expected to be elected to the Committee as planned, but his election will not have significance, since Justice Minister Yariv Levin (Likud) has announced that he has no intention to call the Committee together so long as it remains in its current form.
Kroizer, meanwhile, is not the only candidate for the spot: MK Moshe Solomon (Religious Zionism) and MKs Ron Katz and Idan Roll of Yesh Atid have also submitted candidacy.
Also on Wednesday, an additional representative will be chosen for the committee for selecting religious judges.
Last month, MK Karin Elharrar (Yesh Atid) was appointed as the opposition's representative to the Judicial Selection Committee in a 58-56 vote. At the same time, the coalition's MK Tally Gotliv (Likud) was defeated after 59 MKs voted against her appointment and just 15 MKs voted in favor of it.
Wednesday's vote is a repeat vote to select the coalition's representative to the Committee.
