Thousands of people who oppose the government’s planned judicial reform demonstrated overnight Saturday outside the home of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in Moshav Amikam, located in northern Israel near Zikhron Ya'akov.
The protesters arrived at the scene around 10:00 p.m. and remained there until early morning.
"Gallant, you are our commander - your job is to protect us from enemies from outside and inside. Do not allow Israel's security to be harmed and to tear the nation apart. Together we will save Israel. We call on you to come and join us," the protesters said.
The organizers of the protest are threatening to intensify their measures even further this coming week and have made it clear that if the legislation to repeal the reasonableness cause is approved on Monday, a "day of resistance" will be held on Tuesday.
The day will include a huge demonstration in the Ben Gurion Airport in the afternoon. In the evening, there will continuous demonstrations and marches throughout the country.
The protest organizations said, "The people of Israel do not desire a dictatorship, and they do not desire unilateral and dangerous dictatorial legislation that will crash the economy, harm security, and lead to a rift in the nation. The people of Israel will not give up on their democracy and will not live under an extreme and dangerous tyranny."
"We call today on Netanyahu and his extremist partners in the government - If the law passes in the first reading, the Israeli government will lose its legitimacy, the government in a democracy does not have a mandate to abolish democracy. In the face of an illegitimate government, it is a duty to resist. This coming Tuesday, if the law passes the night before, the people of Israel will come out en masse for a day of resistance. If the government does not stop, the whole country will come to a stop."
