
Police officers who raided several homes in the Bedouin town of Aro'er and city of Rahat in southern Israel were stunned to discover weapons and ammunition in a preschool.
The raid was conducted near the homes of families who have been involved in shooting incidents in which illegal weapons were used. During the search, which was conducted in Neighborhood 1 of Aro'er, a Carlo submachine gun was found in a preschool, along with a Star pistol, magazines, and ammunition.
In the search conducted by police within the homes of Neighborhood 26 of Rahat, IWI Jericho 941 semiautomatic pistols were found, along with magazines and ammunition.
Three suspects were arrested on suspicion of possession of weapons in violation of the law, and police will request that their arrests be extended.
The Negev Region Commander said, "The Negev Region of the Southern District continues to carry out offensive activities and initiatives against those who commit crime, as part of a regional strategy to move 'from defense to offense' while concentrating uncompromising efforts on dealing with the various conflicts in the sector and against criminals who possess illegal weapons, for the purpose of increasing governance and the public's feeling of security."
