A Ukrainian delegate was filmed punching a Russian official in the face after the Ukrainian flag was removed from him while he attempted to insert himself waving the flag into a video interview with Russia’s lead delegate, Fox News reported.
The incident took place on Thursday at the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation meeting in Ankara, Turkey.
Footage of the skirmish showed Ukrainian official Olesandr Marikovski waving a Ukrainian flag behind Russian delegate Olga Timofeeva who was giving an interview.
A Russian official walked up to Marikovski and grabbed the Ukrainian flag from him. However, Marikovski chased after the man and began throwing punches at him, catching him at least once in the face.
Marikovski then grabbed the flag back. Members of both parties quickly intervened to break up the two delegates.
Member states at the summit included Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Romania and Moldova.
The Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation describes itself as a group "working together towards peace, stability and prosperity in the Black Sea region."
