South Florida celebrated the 75th anniversary of the State of Israel with the most numerous event anywhere in the world that included 6,000 students.

South Florida had been organizing the event for a full year in order to bring together an impressive number of Jewish schools from Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade – 22 in total – according to a release from the Consulate General of Israel in Miami.

The third year the annual event has taken place, this year saw students from 1st to 12th grade along with community members and partners supporting the enormous undertaking.

According to the Consulate General, “The occasion nurtures the bond between South Florida Jewish youth and their ancestral homeland – Israel.”

Over 6,000 students convened at the stadium in Miami on Wednesday to participate in a parade, each school representing an Israeli city, while enjoying musical performances, interactive games and videos.

The Consulate noted that while this event brings the youth together, and is the single most attended anniversary event in the globe, the 800-member Miami delegation currently in Israel to mark the date constitutes the largest delegation from around the world in Israel.

“Both are examples of Florida citizens highlighting shared democratic values between the United States and Israel,” the Consulate said.

“Israel makes history, and South Florida youth celebrate their heritage, in an unforgettable way, where their special bond is marked forever,” said Tila Falic-Levi, event organizer.

“Israel lives strong in South Florida. The Jewish community, the youth, have deep ties to their roots, their ancestral homeland,” said Maor Elbaz-Starinsky, Consul General of Israel in Miami.
